Key Biscayne, although named a “key”, it is not geologically part of the Florida Keys, but is a barrier island composed of sand eroded from the Appalachian Mountains, carried to the coast by rivers and then moved along the coast from the north by coastal currents.

Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida. MIAMI’S ONLY ISLAND DESTINATION.
For Jenni’s birthday we scaped to a luxury Miami Beach resort that exudes the classic charm of South Florida. Located on the exclusive five-mile-long barrier island. This hotel is just minutes from the dynamic downtown Miami, yet this hotel provided us with an atmosphere of sequestered serenity. The elegant architecture was inspired by West Indies Colonial designs.

Stopped for lunch at the Lighthouse Marina, City of Lighthouse Point, Florida.
