The same small catamaran that took us close to the Dawes Glacier, took us down the 8-mile long Fords Terror Fjord to the half mile wide tidewater South Sawyer Glacier, on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
This Fjord is also known as the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror. This Fjord got its name because of the dangerous riptide currents that enters this Fjord at hide tide. The Fjord has become navigable in recent years since it is no longer jammed with floating icebergs. The glacier has retreated 3.4 miles since 1899. All of this has allowed viewing of the glacier.

After leaving the Fjord, the small catamaran had to catch up to our cruise Ship which was already heading to Skagway, AK.
