In February 2021 on my way to Key West, Florida, I stopped at the J. N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island. At the refuge I took the Shell Mound ¼ mile interpretive boardwalk trail from the Education Center to the 4-mile Indigo hard packed dike trail. They close this area down once a week to give the refuge creatures a day off to rest!
